Ger Sweeney’s Books

 

Ger Sweeney has written two books and both relate to his radio career. In November 2019 he released “Launching Clare FM” to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the launch of the radio station. In March 2021 Sweeney releases “Stories from 40 Years on the Radio” to coincide with the 40th anniersary of his first broadcast.

Stories from 40 Years on the Radio

Ger Sweeney has spent 40 years working on the radio. He made his debut a few days before his 14th birthday and since then he has been emersed in the radio world.  This is a selection of stories from the past four decades and offers an insight into the business and Ger’s experiences. Sweeney is on record as saying that there are so many stories to be told from his years working on the radio but so many of these cannot be told in public. So, enjoy the first batch of those that can be told.

Launching Clare FM – The stories of those who launched Clare’s local radio station in 1989

There was a team of amost 30 people working at Clare FM when the station launched. These people tell their stories throughout the book. Clare FM was one of the first local radio stations to commence broadcasting in 1989. It was a historic event and the stories contained in the book outline just how eagerly the arrival of local radio was anticipated. Many positive changes came about because of it and these are teased out by those who were there to witness it happening.
